WELCOME, THIS IS US

Clarendon Street Vets is a small, independent, family-owned practice based in the centre of Cambridge.

We are very much a part of the local community, having recently celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of the practice at the site.

Our experienced vets, friendly staff and comprehensive range of facilities and services attract clients looking to build a lasting relationship with our practice.

We are the only independent practice remaining in Cambridge. This means we can run the surgery in the same way we always have, with integrity, flexibility, compassion, and good humour, and the best interests of our clients and their pets at the heart of everything that we do.

    VET & DIRECTOR

Patrick qualified as a veterinary surgeon from The University of Berlin in 1992. He spent time working in Norfolk and Northumberland before moving and settling in Cambridge. In 1998 he took over the clinic, running it alone until 2018 when he was joined by his niece, Harriet. Patrick has a passion for wildlife and conservation and has recently completed his Masters with the University of East Anglia.

He lives at home with his family, their dogs, Dudley and Toast and Wolfie the cat, another one of Samba’s kittens.

In her free time Harriet enjoys exploring the outdoor space that Cambridge has to offer with her family,  and loves being outside in the garden.

Maria graduated from the University of Cordoba in 2004 and has since worked in a number of UK practices, from Inverness to the Isle of Wight.

She joined the Clarendon Street team in 2022 and has really enjoyed getting to know our clients and their pets.

In her spare time María loves spending time outdoors in nature with her friends and family. Animals have always been her passion so to be a vet and able to help when they become unwell is the most rewarding part of her job.

  • RECEPTION

Sue is an integral part of the practice who first handed Patrick a scalpel in 2005! She usually works Saturday mornings but can often be found popping into the clinic for a chat or bringing food parcels to refuel the team. Sue is much adored by practice cat, Samba, whose daughter Lypsy migrated across the road to live with her. As well as working at the surgery, Sue runs a small publishing company and an excellent B&B!

  • BOOKKEEPER

Sarah graduated at Falmouth College of Arts and worked as an administrator and bookkeeper at the University of Cambridge and in biotech companies before joining the Clarendon Street vets team. She works behind the scenes as Bookkeeper for both practices.

Sarah grew up with dogs but currently makes do with a husband and son, who are less furry but almost as messy. She enjoys singing as a member of a community choir and going for long walks.

  • PRACTICE CAT

Samba arrived at the practice as a stray 12 years ago and never left. Not long after arriving, Samba gave birth to 6 kittens, including Lypsy, who stayed with her mum at the practice until recently  deciding to move in with Sue across the road! Samba can mostly be found snoozing on the back of the sofa or sitting on the windowsill, keeping an eye on goings on in the street and chirping at birds on the rooftops opposite.

Paddy qualified from Glasgow in 1989 having wanted to be a vet since she was 4. She is committed to providing high quality diagnostics with a patient orientated ethos and remains very aware that imaging is only one part of the diagnostic work up for any patient.

Cambridge radiology referrals, established by Paddy in 1998, is one of the UK’s most experienced providers of outpatient imaging. Their service is very different from many others in that each patient is seen by a radiologist who directs and is present throughout the whole procedure. They will make decisions about the type of scan, additional areas, additional procedures, and whether biopsy is possible and appropriate, ensuring they get the maximum information from the procedure.

Appointments with Paddy can be arranged at our Church Street Surgery.
