February News
We hope you are all surviving the grey start to the year and looking ahead to spring.
There seems to be a lot to report this month! Our Paws & People plans are proving very popular. The plans are primarily designed to spread the cost of routine care, but we also wanted to support our local communities, so £1 per month from every subscription is donated to local charities and community groups. Our first three charities, Shelford and Stapleford Scout Group, Abbey People and the Stapleford PTA were each thrilled to receive a donation of £440! Our charities for the first quarter of 2026 are Shelford & Stapleford Youth Initiative, 11th/9th Newnham Scouts and the SWCC Hedgehog Hospital. You can read more about the work they do on the CSV community pages of our websites.
February is Pet Dental Health Month, so we have been offering free dental checks at both surgeries. Spotting the early signs of dental disease can prevent ongoing discomfort and may reduce the need for more drastic treatment as your pet ages. Free dental checks can be booked up until the end of the month.
We welcomed a new visiting specialist to Church Street surgery this month. Luke Dutton, of Dutton Referrals offers cardiology services and advice. The addition of Luke’s service means we now offer specialist physiotherapy, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, and cardiology services on-site, allowing our clients to access referral services without the need to travel. For further info on any of these services, please give us a call or visit the ‘about us’ sections of our websites.
You may be aware of a few changes to our out-of-hours services. If your pet is unwell when the surgery is closed, treatment will now be provided by Cambridge Night Vet, based at Granta Vets in Linton. Cambridge Night Vet can be contacted on 01223 608213.
We have also partnered with VidiVet to offer an out of hours triage service. If you are worried about your pet when the surgery is closed, and not sure if they need treatment or not, you can contact a qualified UK vet via VidiVet, and can advise you on the best course of action. This service is FREE OF CHARGE for our clients, and we really hope it helps reduce the worry of out-of-hours care.
Finally, we can’t quite believe that March 17th marks the one-year anniversary of Church Street Vets! We will be celebrating our birthday with delicious homemade cakes, for pets and owners, throughout the day at both surgeries. We couldn’t have done it without you, so please do pop in and help us celebrate!
With very Best Wishes,
Patrick, Harriet and all the CSV team.
