September News
Grass seeds aside we have been enjoying the long, hot summer. Our current grass seed tally is close to 80. Fortunately, much of the long grass on the commons has now been cut.
It’s been a busy few months with the introduction of our Paws & People subscription health plan. The plan is a way of spreading and discounting the cost of routine pet care and has been very well received so far. Details of the plan are on the services and pricing section of the website

We are also keen to support the wider community, and the plan includes a monthly donation to a selection of local charities and causes. The three recipients for the remainder of 2025 are Abbey People, a community charity dedicated to improving the lives of people in Cambridge’s most impoverished ward, the Shelford and Stapleford Scout Group and the Stapleford Community Primary School PTA. You can find out a little more about all three organisations in the practice, and ‘vote’ with your Paws & People token. Donations will be divided accordingly at the end of the year.
We are looking forward to a couple of events this month. On Saturday September 13th at 3pm, we will be judging the fun dog show at the Little Shelford Village Weekend. More details of the many fun activities over the course of the weekend can be found here

On Wednesday September 24th at 7pm, we are hosting a client evening on ‘Understanding and Managing Allergy in Pets’ at our Church Street Surgery. We will look at the causes of allergy, the various treatment options and answer any questions you might have. It’s a free event, with light refreshments, that promises to be an interesting evening. If you have a pet who suffers from allergies, and are interested in coming along, please call the surgery to book your place.
Finally, a quick reminder to keep your pets microchip contact details up to date if you move or change your number. The ‘Vet Times’ this week featured the story of a vet nurse who was reunited with her cat after 13 years. He had wandered more than 150 miles from home! If you are not sure who to contact to update your details you can give us a call and we can help you find out.
Best wishes,
Patrick, Harriet, and all the CSV team.
